Football Recap: Trego Piles Up the Points Against Ellis

Trego strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Ellis Railroaders, posting a 54-6 win. The Golden Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Railroaders, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trego to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Conness, who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Conness is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Ashton Wynn was another key player, rushing for 86 yards and two scores on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Trego was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 241 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Trego didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cass Smith and Vladon Crawford.

Trego's record is now 5-0. As for Ellis, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Trego will head out to take on Ness City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ellis, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Quinter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
