Softball Recap: Central Crossing Comes Up Short

Pickerington North hit Central Crossing with a four-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Comets took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Comets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 4-0.

Hayliee Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Central Crossing saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lindsay Russell, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Central Crossing has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Pickerington North, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
