Recap: Jenkins Warriors vs. Statesboro Blue Devils
The Jenkins Warriors lost against the Statesboro Blue Devils back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Jenkins took a 45-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Statesboro. Jenkins has struggled against Statesboro recently, as their contest on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremiah James, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. James is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Anthony Aj bynum was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Statesboro had a senior duo take command as Raylin Grant scored 14 points along with five steals and Kamron (kam) Mikell scored nine points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Muhammad Shareef, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Jenkins' defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Statesboro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Jenkins will face off against Laney at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. As for Statesboro, they will head out on the road to take on Bradwell Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bradwell Institute is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Statesboro a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
