Preview: Lanesville Eagles vs. Orleans Bulldogs

Lanesville is on a 15-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Orleans is on a eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Lanesville Eagles will take on the Orleans Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lanesville can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 73-39 victory over Trinity Lutheran on the road. Given Lanesville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Trinity Lutheran is ranked 186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lanesville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hylton Brumley, who scored 21 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brumley has scored all season. Ava Kerr was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, Orleans didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Borden on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 44-40 win.

Mylie Knight continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Callie Alston, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Lanesville's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Orleans, their victory bumped their record up to 17-1.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lanesville have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 22.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Orleans, though, as they've been averaging only 26.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Everything came up roses for Lanesville against Orleans in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 54-10 victory. Does Lanesville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Orleans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
