Basketball Game Preview: Pueblo Central Wildcats vs. Denver North Vikings

The Pueblo Central Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Denver North Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Pueblo Central took a 21-point loss the last time they faced off against Evergreen, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Cougars 73-71.

Jayden Jones had a dynamite game, shooting 58% from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points. Darryll Davis was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Denver North sidestepped Aurora Central for a 55-52 victory. The win almost wasn't to be: the Vikings were down 30-16 in the second quarter.

Pueblo Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Denver North, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Pueblo Central was able to grind out a solid win over Denver North in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 64-53. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
