1. Concord
Head coach: Eric Brown

Team preview

Rob Law is back for his senior season and will lead the charge for a team that is one year removed from a perfect season that ended with a state championship victory. Surrounding him on offense will be versatile weapons in Walter Jacob Szulc and Leo Sudieh to name a few. Look for Will Scharlotte and Wyatt Labombard to lead the defensive unit for coach Brown. The Crimson Bears will not have an easy road to a repeat but they have the means to just that.

2. Pinkerton (Derry)
Head coach: Brian O'Reilly
2013 finish: 9-3

Coach O'Reilly and his squad still have a bitter taste in their mouths from last season's state title loss to the aforementioned Concord. Fortunately he will have all the pieces he needs to avenge that loss. The Astros will have size and experience across the board, which will play huge come playoff time. It'll be Jack Hanaway leading the offense and a trio of Noah Robison, Hayden Sturdevant and David Pariseau anchoring the trenches on both sides of the ball.

3. Windham
Head coach: Bill Raycraft
2013 finish: 8-2
Team preview

Windham welcomes a new coach this season in Bill Raycraft, who double dips as the school's athletic director. The Jaguars were on the cusp of a state championship last season but fell just short. A combination of Brendan Mcinnis, Kurtis Jolicoeur and youngster Victor Pizzotti will likely star on both sides of the ball and give coach Raycraft some weapons to play with throughout the season.

4. Portsmouth
Head coach: Russ Russo
2013 finish: 10-2

Coach Russo led his team all the way to the state title game last season, falling just short in a heartbreaking loss to Plymouth. It'll be Connor DiCesare calling the shots under center for the Clippers' offense. Versatile athletes Sam LeCompte and Mikel Toar should provide experience and production on both offense and defense. Coach Russo and his boys are definitely contenders to play for a state title.

5. Nashua South
Head coach: Scott Knight
2013 finish: 9-2
Team preview

Nashua South never has an easy road to the state title, as it plays in likely the best division in the state. That being said, coach Knight returns nine starters on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Jesse Clauss will give new quarterback Mailk Langa a comfort blanket early on while he gets up to speed. The Purple Panthers' strength will likely be their experience which could pay huge dividends when the playoffs roll around.
