The Glendale Vikings will face off against the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Glendale is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mount Union on Friday. The Vikings took a 34-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Logan Skebeck, who threw for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in two scores on the ground. Tanner Ammerman was Skebeck's top target, picking up 62 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Claysburg-Kimmel). They really took it to Southern Huntingdon County for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won three in a row.
Glendale better keep an eye on Mason Campagna. He was instrumental in Claysburg-Kimmel's win, throwing for 240 yards and four touchdowns while completing 95% of his passes, and also rushing for 87 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. The dominant performance also gave Campagna a new career-high in passer rating (170.8). John Ritchey-Zerby was another key player, rushing for 68 yards and one TD on only five carries.
Claysburg-Kimmel's run defense was locked in: Southern Huntingdon County could only muster 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Paydden Knisely for the heroic effort on defense: he. Claysburg-Kimmel didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.8.
Claysburg-Kimmel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Campagna and Blake Kulick. Campagna's passing game has become a key predictor of Claysburg-Kimmel's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.
Claysburg-Kimmel's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Glendale, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Glendale came up short against Claysburg-Kimmel in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 32-22. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
