The Chowchilla Tribe will take on the Riverdale Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Chowchilla is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Chowchilla took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Yosemite get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tribe considering their two-run performance the game before.
Dillon Watkins was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Chowchilla is 5-2 when Watkins allows two or fewer hits, but 8-11 otherwise. Watkins was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Davian Stephenson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Chowchilla's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 6-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Zayden Kobzeff, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Riverdale hadn't done well against Caruthers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cowboys skirted past the Blue Raiders 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cowboys have posted since April 12th.
Riverdale let Xaidyn Camacho and EMMANUEL BOJORQUEZ run wild. Camacho went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while BOJORQUEZ went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Catarino Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Chowchilla's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-13. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Riverdale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-15.
Chowchilla took their win against Riverdale when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 23-2 score. Will the Tribe repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
