Recap: River Valley Vikings vs. Clear Fork Colts
The River Valley Vikings came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Clear Fork 84-69. Given River Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Clear Fork is ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
River Valley was led to victory by Ayden Kenney and Carson Smith. Kenney dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Smith scored 34 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Weston, who scored nine points along with eight assists and two steals.
River Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Clear Fork, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
River Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bishop Ready at 8:00 p.m. on January 13th. Bishop Ready is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Clear Fork, they will square off against Black River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Black River is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
