Basketball Recap: Bozeman Takes a Loss

Bozeman was the 66-47 winner over Ponce De Leon when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bozeman Bucks were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 43-42 to the Ponce De Leon Pirates. The matchup marked the Bucks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Bozeman had strong showings from Zac Wiza, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 17 points and three steals, and Cash Zirkle, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Bozeman is 4-2 when Zirkle posts eight or more boards, but 3-4 otherwise. Zac Flitcraft was another key player, putting up four points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, Bozeman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Bozeman's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Ponce De Leon, they moved to 6-9 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
