Basketball Recap: Mission Eagles vs. Nixon Mustangs

Mission was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Nixon Mustangs, falling 76-40. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1041st, while the Mustangs are ranked 294th).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pablo Trevino, who posted eight points and seven boards. Nixon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from William Palumbo, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine blocks. Dante Escobar was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Mission's loss dropped their record down to 15-18. As for Nixon, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-9.

Mission does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nixon, they have already played their next matchup, a 79-44 win against Roma on the 11th.
