Softball Recap: Interlake Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Interlake waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Renton Red Hawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 22-5 last Saturday.

Madeline Knight and Tali Estolano did most of the damage at the plate: Knight went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Estolano got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those six RBI gave Knight a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tahni-Joie Sablan, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Interlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Interlake pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Renton, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Interlake will face off against Evergreen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Renton, they will welcome Highline at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
