Softball Recap: Upper Darby's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Upper Darby can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against the Penncrest Lions by a score of 4-1. That's more bragging rights for the Royals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sarah Gentile made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Gentile wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Yard, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Yard has posted since back in March.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-11. As for Penncrest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.
