Baseball Recap: Moreno Valley's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Moreno Valley lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tahquitz, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Vikings blew past the Titans 9-2 on Monday. Nine seems to be a good number for the Vikings as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

J. Felix tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on E. Zendejas, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

The win was the third in a row for Moreno Valley, bringing their record up to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Tahquitz, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moreno Valley will challenge Heritage at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.6, the Patriots 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tahquitz, they will face off against West Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
