Basketball Game Preview: South Iron Panthers vs. Ste. Genevieve Dragons

The South Iron Panthers will take on the Ste. Genevieve Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Iron has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the third.

South Iron's tournament run continued when they took on Central on Thursday. South Iron was beaten by Central 71-39. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while the Rebels are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Ste. Genevieve came up short against Fredericktown on Thursday and fell 49-41. The Dragons haven't had much luck with the Black Cats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Ste. Genevieve's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for South Iron, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

South Iron came out on top in a nail-biter against Ste. Genevieve in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 60-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Iron since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
