Baseball Recap: Steven Zrimec and Charlie Michelotti Secure Win for Grosse Pointe South

While Grosse Pointe South didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Roseville Panthers a 15-0 shutout on Saturday. The Blue Devils have beaten the Panthers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Brody Vinyard looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Grosse Pointe South let Charlie Michelotti and Steven Zrimec run wild. Michelotti scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Zrimec scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Stanton Kapla was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Grosse Pointe South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grosse Pointe South will challenge Sterling Heights Stevenson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Roseville, they will take on Fraser at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Ramblers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.25 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
