Softball Recap: Klamath Union Comes Up Short

Klamath Union extended their losing streak to 11 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Phoenix Pirates. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 13, 2024, but that streak is no more.

As for Phoenix, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

For Phoenix's part, Rylie Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carsyn Gallegos, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Carsyn Sousa was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Klamath Union will host Mazama at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Pelicans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Phoenix, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Etna at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
