Basketball Game Preview: Newton Cardinals vs. Pella Christian Eagles

Newton and Pella Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Newton Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Pella Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newton is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

On Friday, Newton came up short against Pella and fell 45-32. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Dutch are ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-36, which was the final score in Pella Christian's tilt against Norwalk on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Pella Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Newton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Newton didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Pella Christian in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 43-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
