Basketball Game Preview: Metuchen Bulldogs vs. South River Rams

The Metuchen Bulldogs will take on the South River Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Metuchen is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Johnson just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They were dealt a 59-23 defeat at the hands of the Crusaders. The loss was the Bulldogs' first of the season.

Meanwhile, South River waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 68-57 victory over the Owls.

South River pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Metuchen, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Metuchen came up short against South River in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 57-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of South River's Alex Grospe, who posted 38 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.
