Baseball Recap: LaVergne Comes Up Short

LaVergne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Stewarts Creek Red Hawks, falling 13-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Dominic Townsend and Jay Jerome stepped up to the plate in a big way. Townsend scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Jerome scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jerome has become a key player for LaVergne: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

LaVergne's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Stewarts Creek, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-10.

While LaVergne had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
