Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Glades Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kevin Hernandez and Ronnie Rivero

Pinecrest Glades Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 70-61 to the Horeb Christian Mustangs. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Ronnie Rivero and Kevin Hernandez certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Rivero posted 20 points, while Hernandez earned 21 points. Rivero's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kristopher Arauz, who had six points.

Horeb Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Gonzalez led the charge by going 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points and five steals. That's the most steals Gonzalez has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Ravelo, who put up seven points and 20 rebounds.

Pinecrest Glades Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Horeb Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Pinecrest Glades Academy will venture away from home to face off against Sunset at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pinecrest Glades Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Horeb Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 82-49 win against Cristo Rey on the 11th.
