Basketball Recap: Wheeler Comes Up Short

Wheeler was the 47-40 winner over Jumpertown when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wheeler Eagles fell 47-36 to the Jumpertown Cardinals on Tuesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Wheeler still got an impressive performance from Macie Arnold, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Arnold a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Kate Beckham, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Wheeler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Wheeler's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Jumpertown, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-8.

Wheeler will square off against Baldwyn at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheeler is facing Baldwyn at the right time seeing as Baldwyn is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Jumpertown, they will challenge Booneville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
