Basketball Recap: Phillips Bears vs. Marion County Red Raiders
Phillips was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Marion County Red Raiders, falling 63-40. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-65 back in January.
Leading Marion County to victory were Tye Madison and Philip Wilson. Madison dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Wilson dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Madison is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Samuel Taylor, who posted 11 points.
Phillips' loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Marion County, their record now sits at 12-14.
Phillips does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marion County, they will challenge Hackleburg at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marion County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season.
