Baseball Recap: Manatee Takes a Loss

Manatee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 8-5 to the Braden River Pirates. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hurricanes of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Manatee got a good showing from Malachi Cleto, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cleto has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Manatee saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Roberts, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Payton Harlan was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Manatee's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Braden River, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Manatee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-1 win against Boca Ciega on the 1st. As for Braden River, they have also already played their next game, a 10-1 victory against Lakewood Ranch on the 3rd.
