Gibbon hasn't had much luck against Centura recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gibbon Buffaloes just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Centura Centurions at 6:00 p.m.
Gibbon is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They came up short against Amherst, falling 52-28. The Buffaloes were down 45-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Brooke Sell put forth a good effort for the losing side as she almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave her a new career-high. Piper Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.
Even though they lost, Gibbon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Centura, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 47-28 win over Cozad on Saturday. The contest marked the Centurions' most dominant victory of the season.
Gibbon better focus on containing Kennedy Davis and Taya Taukiuvea as the pair were huge in Centura's win. Davis dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 blocks, while Taukiuvea posted nine points along with five assists and five steals. Davis has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hope Mcdonald, who put up nine points and six boards.
Gibbon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Centura, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Gibbon has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Centura struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Gibbon was taken down by Centura 72-23 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Gibbon, Kyra Wooden (who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
