Softball Game Preview: South Caldwell Spartans vs. Cannon Cougars

The South Caldwell Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Cannon Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Caldwell is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Last Friday, South Caldwell got the win against A.C. Reynolds by a conclusive 12-1. The match marked the Spartans' most dominant win of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Cannon didn't have quite enough to beat South Rowan on Monday and fell 4-3.

Addie Hartz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cannon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clark Hudson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

South Caldwell's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.2 runs. As for Cannon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
