Baseball Game Preview: Northland Pines Eagles vs. Crivitz Wolverines

The Northland Pines Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Crivitz Wolverines at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Northland Pines' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Crivitz's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Northland Pines needed a bit of extra time to put away Rhinelander. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hodags, sneaking past 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Jonah Will was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crivitz). They put the hurt on Wausaukee with a sharp 20-3 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Northland Pines' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Crivitz, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Northland Pines took their win against Crivitz in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 17-8 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
