Baseball Recap: Cave Spring Comes Up Short

Cave Spring fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Blacksburg on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 back in April.

Cave Spring saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Lee, who went 2-for-5 with one run. Matthew Blankenship also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Cave Spring's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-10. As for Blacksburg, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

Cave Spring wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-7 defeat against Hidden Valley on the 20th. As for Blacksburg, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-1 win against Christiansburg on the 20th.
