Basketball Game Preview: West Central Trojans vs. Tri-County Cavaliers

West Central is 2-8 against Tri-County since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The West Central Trojans will face off against the Tri-County Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against DeMotte Christian as West Central made off with a 59-33 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Trojans have posted against the Knights since February 5, 2016.

West Central found their leader in sophomore Madisyn DeMoss, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. What's more, DeMoss also racked up four steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kailee Bishop, who posted nine points along with six boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Tri-County waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They breezed by the Spartans to the tune of 63-16. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Spartans are ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tri-County's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for West Central, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.

West Central came up short against Tri-County when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 44-33. Can West Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
