Baseball Recap: Woodland Has No Trouble Against Shead

Woodland won the last time they faced Shead and things went their way on Monday too. The Dragons blew past the Tigers 13-1. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Liam O'Neill made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Woodland's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). O'Neill was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Isaac Downing was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Evan Monk also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Woodland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Woodland now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Shead, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Woodland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
