Volleyball Recap: West Mesa Takes a Loss

West Mesa lost against Volcano Vista back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mustangs came up short against the Hawks, falling 3-0. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-12, 25-14.

Despite the defeat, West Mesa saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kianna Joe had five kills, five digs, two blocks, and two aces. Joe has been hot, having posted five or more kills the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Garcia, who had 17 assists.

Lilia Pope was the offensive standout of the game as she had 18 digs and two assists.

West Mesa now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Volcano Vista, their record is now 3-1.

Looking ahead, West Mesa will venture away from home to face off against St. Michael's at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Volcano Vista, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Los Lunas at 6:00 p.m. on the 16th.
