Western proved they can win big on Friday (they won by nine) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the McCutcheon Mavericks 8-7. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 7-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Western's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for McCutcheon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6-1.

Looking ahead, Western is taking a road trip to take on Eastern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for McCutcheon, they will host Lafayette Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bronchos have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
