Basketball Recap: Rusty Hooks Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Tandem Friends

New Covenant can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 50-39 win over the Tandem Friends Badgers. Given the Gryphons 's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Badgers are ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Covenant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rusty Hooks led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Tristan Isenhour was another key player, going 5 of 6 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Tandem Friends' loss came despite strong showings from Sincere Fordham and Zaquis Timberlake. Fordham posted 16 points, while Timberlake had 12 points.

New Covenant's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-6. As for Tandem Friends, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8.

New Covenant will head out to challenge Eastern Mennonite at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Covenant is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season. As for Tandem Friends, they will be playing at home against Quantico at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tandem Friends is facing Quantico at the right time seeing as Quantico is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
