Softball Recap: South Spencer Has No Trouble Against Washington

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Apollo, South Spencer was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Washington Hatchets. With that victory, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Ruthee Clark, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Abby Raaf also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

South Spencer's record is now 5-7. As for Washington, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

South Spencer and Washington could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Rebels will square off against Heritage Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (224 vs. 45). Meanwhile, Washington (ranked 334th) will meet Barr-Reeve (ranked 138th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
