Preview: Rahway Indians vs. Colonia Patriots
Rahway is 0-1 against Colonia since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rahway Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Colonia Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Rahway is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Rahway was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 19-15 to Carteret.
The losing side was boosted by Andrew Avent, who rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Colonia pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 64-35 loss at the hands of Summit. The matchup was a 28-28 toss-up at halftime, but Colonia was blown out by Summit in the second.
Colonia's loss came about despite a quality game from Jaeden Jones, who rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Nygel Hill was in the mix too, providing Colonia with two touchdowns.
The losses dropped Rahway to 3-5 and Colonia to 4-4.
Rahway and Colonia were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, but Rahway came up empty-handed after a 21-20 defeat. Can Rahway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
