Basketball Recap: Surrattsville Takes a Loss

Surrattsville challenged Gwynn Park. in a bug-themed battle on Thursday. The Surrattsville Hornets had to suffer through an 83-29 loss at the hands of the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Gwynn Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reagan Mason, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 11 steals. The dominant performance gave Mason a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Pitts, who posted 23 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Surrattsville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Gwynn Park, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Coming up, Surrattsville is taking a road trip to take on Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gwynn Park, they have already played their next matchup, a 69-17 victory against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South on the 14th.
