Basketball Recap: Baldwin-Woodville Find Success

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Baldwin-Woodville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 46-45 win over the Prescott Cardinals. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Blackhawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Cardinals are ranked 70th).

Prescott lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kobe Russell, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Russell's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Teddy Bernick was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Baldwin-Woodville's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Prescott, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-4.

Baldwin-Woodville will face off against St. Croix Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st. As for Prescott, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Prescott Cardinals take on the Northwestern Tigers at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
