Basketball Recap: Purdue Polytechnic Takes a Loss

Purdue Polytechnic came into this matchup off a tough 23-point loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Christel House Eagles by a score of 78-75 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (73), the Techies still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Purdue Polytechnic still got an impressive performance from TJ Williams, who posted 35 points. The Techies are 4-1 when Williams posts 30 or more points, but 3-8 otherwise. Ian Vo was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Christel House's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malik Sims, who shot 78% from the field on his way to 23 points and seven boards. Thanks to that strong game, Sims now owns an excellent 46.2% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of David Brigham Jr, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 25 points and six rebounds.

Purdue Polytechnic is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. As for Christel House, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Purdue Polytechnic and Christel House will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Techies see the court they'll take on Indianapolis Shortridge at 7:30 p.m. on the 27th. As for Christel House, their break will end when they face Indianapolis Crispus Attucks at 7:30 p.m. on the 30th.
