Football Game Preview: Springfield Blue Devils vs. Southview Cougars

The Springfield Blue Devils will take on the Southview Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Springfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 45-0 victory over Woodward. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Blue Devils' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Polar Bears are ranked 649th).

Meanwhile, Southview can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They strolled past Bowling Green with points to spare, taking the game 22-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Southview's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Things could have been worse for Springfield, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 30-14 loss to Southview in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Thankfully for the Blue Devils, Isaac Sexton (who rushed for 198 yards and one TD, and also threw for 65 yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
