Burley is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Burley Bobcats duke it out with Jerome Tigers at 4:30 p.m. They are strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Jerome will be up against a hot Burley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Burley came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against Elko. While the Bobcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Casen Cooper was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Jerome lost 7-1 to Blackfoot on Monday. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Jerome saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lane Arellano, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Jerome and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Burley, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Burley's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. Burley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game.
