Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Metamora

Metamora extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 9-13 in the process. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Limestone Rockets. This was payback for the Redbirds, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Metamora saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Smith, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. Another was Jacob Crotz, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

As for Limestone, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-12. Rockets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Metamora since on Monday.

On Limestone's side, Bryce Chapman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Chapman has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

Looking ahead, Limestone will be playing at home against Rock Island at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Metamora will be paying especially close attention to the Rockets' matchup: after the Rockets face off against the Rocks, they'll take on Metamora again at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
