Basketball Recap: Joppa-Maple Grove Falls Despite Big Games from Kali Short and Abigail Lang

Joppa-Maple Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a hard 36-22 fall against the Pope County Pirates. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-23 back in November.

Joppa-Maple Grove's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Abigail Lang, who posted six points, and Kali Short, who earned seven points and six rebounds.

Joppa-Maple Grove's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Pope County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Joppa-Maple Grove will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fulton City at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Pope County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-13 win against Varsity Opponent on the 17th.
