Basketball Game Preview: Lone Tree Lions vs. Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves

Lone Tree is 1-9 against Winfield-Mt. Union since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lone Tree Lions will head out to square off against the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lone Tree challenged Columbus on Friday. Lone Tree took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Columbus.

Meanwhile, Winfield-Mt. Union lost to Holy Trinity Catholic at home by a 63-48 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Crusaders are ranked 27th).

Lone Tree's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Winfield-Mt. Union, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Lone Tree came up short against Winfield-Mt. Union in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 49-41. Can Lone Tree avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
