Baseball Recap: Houston Comes Up Short

Houston lost against Hayfield back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hurricanes took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.

Zach Olson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Grayden Beckman, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Houston has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Hayfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Coming up, Houston is taking a road trip to challenge Southland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Hurricanes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hayfield, they will be playing at home against Mabel-Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
