Baseball Recap: Mifflin Takes a Loss

Mifflin had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it five. They lost 24-4 to the Whetstone Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 back in March.

As for Whetstone, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Whetstone's part, Grant Gaberell and August Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gaberell pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Johnson pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Gaberell posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At bat, Gaberell went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double, while Johnson went 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Mifflin will head out to face off against South at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Whetstone, they will welcome Bexley at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
