Recap: Andrew Jackson Volunteers vs. Dorman Cavaliers
The Andrew Jackson Volunteers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 54-46 victory over Dorman.
Andrew Jackson was led to victory by Tamia Watkins and Ayona Alexander. Watkins dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Alexander dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Watkins has scored at least 25% of Andrew Jackson's points. Ni?Yonna Asbelle was another key contributor, scoring two points.
Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nakiyah Kelly, who scored seven points along with 18 rebounds. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh West, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Dorman were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andrew Jackson only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Andrew Jackson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Dorman, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.
