Basketball Recap: Eli Beard Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Shiloh

Decatur won the last time they faced Shiloh and things went their way on Saturday too. The Decatur Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Shiloh Generals 36-33. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Generals are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Decatur's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Beard led the charge by putting up eight points and five rebounds. Beard is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last six games he's played. Bryce Howson was another key player, scoring five points along with five boards and three steals.

Decatur's win bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Shiloh, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-18.

Decatur didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-40 loss against Dutchtown on the 19th. As for Shiloh, they have also already played their next game, an 81-29 defeat against Langston Hughes on the 19th.
