Soccer Game Preview: Esperanza vs. El Modena

The Esperanza Aztecs will head out on the road to face off against the El Modena Vanguards at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

After two halves, Esperanza and Katella settled for a 0-0 draw. The Aztecs had to tread lightly for part of the matchup as Moises Alvarez and Bryan Catalan were both handed yellow cards, which could explain the final result.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, El Modena was not quite Garden Grove's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell 3-1 to the Argonauts. The Vanguards haven't had much luck with the Argonauts recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

El Modena's goal came courtesy of Cam Collazo, who's now up to four this season.

Esperanza's draw gives them a new season record of 4-3-3. As for El Modena, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.

Esperanza beat El Modena 3-1 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Esperanza repeat their success, or does El Modena have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
