Baseball Recap: Eastside Catholic Comes Up Short

Eastside Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln Lynx. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lynx this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 on Monday.

Jay Baxter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ryan Long made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Eastside Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastside Catholic will host Garfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Roosevelt at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lynx 1.5, the Roughriders 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
