Baseball Game Preview: Miramonte Matadors vs. Mt. Diablo Red Devils

For the second straight game, Miramonte will face off against Mt. Diablo. The Matadors will be playing at home against the Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miramonte's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Mt. Diablo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Miramonte is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Mt. Diablo get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The Matadors haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Austin Bilello and George Gilbert were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Bilello struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Gilbert pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Miramonte is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-9 otherwise. At bat, Bilello scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Gilbert scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave Gilbert a new career-high.

In other batting news, Preston Rguem and Casey Yung did most of the damage at the plate: Rguem scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Yung scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Yung a new career-high. Duncan Oliver was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Miramonte's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Mt. Diablo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
